We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with wage and tax regulations, and the reconciliation of payroll-related accounts. The Payroll Specialist will also support system transitions, benefit-related payroll activities, and process improvements, contributing to the efficiency and accuracy of our payroll operations.

Payroll Processing and System Maintenance

• Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and policies.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of payroll systems and stay updated on changes in wage and tax laws.
• Perform system testing to confirm that patches, upgrades, and updates do not impact payroll functionality or accuracy.
• Act as a resource for payroll-related projects, including system conversion (e.g., IDS to Oracle).

Financial Reconciliation and Reporting

• Reconcile payroll accounts and conduct payroll cash reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
• Process and reconcile payroll journal entries, including monthly accruals, general ledger (G/L) analysis, and inter-company transactions.
• Analyze data and provide insights to improve payroll processes and resolve discrepancies.

Benefit and Garnishment Administration

• Manage benefit-related payroll transactions, such as Voluntary Life Insurance, STD/LTD, and 401(k) contributions.
• Accurately enter and maintain wage garnishment orders, ensuring timely and compliant payments.

Policy and Procedure Improvement

• Review, update, and refine payroll procedures to reflect process changes and best practices.
• Collaborate with HR and Accounting to align payroll processes with organizational objectives.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in payroll processing or related roles.

Skills and Competencies

• • Strong knowledge of payroll systems and wage/tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.

HIGHLY DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Multi-state payroll processing.
• Experience with ADP and Oracle HCM
